This project started with a client who knew exactly what they wanted. That made the design process clear and focused—my job was to turn their ideas into a well-thought-out plan that fit the site, the budget, and their day-to-day life.
I stayed involved during the tender process to help select a contractor who understood the project and could deliver the required quality.
Once construction started, I was on site every week. That meant keeping an eye on the quality of the work, answering questions as things came up, and dealing with surprises. These kinds of things can’t always be predicted, but being present helped us sort them out quickly and keep everything moving forward.
Throughout the process, I kept the budget clear and transparent, so the client always had an up-to-date overview of the financial side of the project.
The result is a project that stayed on track from start to finish, thanks to clear communication, regular site involvement, and practical decision-making along the way.
A young couple with two small children settled into their new-built home in a residential development in St Albans a few years ago. While the upstairs layout suited their needs well, they found that the ground floor lacked the space and flexibility desired for comfortable family life.
The living area felt closed off and disconnected, and there was no dedicated utility space. The brief was clear: they weren’t looking for anything extravagant, just a modest extension that would make the downstairs feel more open, functional, and better suited to their family.
They approached me with a clear and thoughtful brief: they were looking for an extension that would make the downstairs more spacious and family-friendly. They also wanted to open up the living room to create a better flow and to introduce a small utility room to support the practical demands of family life.
